Mass in Saint John Houghton CVA

Mass is the central act of worship of the Roman Catholic church, which culminates in celebration of the Eucharist. What we receive at mass is infinitely more than just a passing good feeling or a preached lesson.  We participate in the passion, death, and resurrection of Christ himself!  We receive his body, blood, soul, and divinity in the Holy Eucharist.

We are delighted Father Paul Newman offers to celebrate a voluntary lunchtime Mass in SJH for students and staff.

Luke, a Year 10, pupil tells us: ‘I chose to travel from Eastwood to Ilkeston simply to attend a Catholic Education because it is so very important to me.  I love being able to attend Holy Mass during the week with my friends and teachers, I feel we are a stronger family because we can pray together and share refreshments after mass then to go out into school to make a difference.
