Saint John Houghton benefits from having a Luminate Careers Careers Advisor who delivers a one-to-one service to students at KS4 to provide a range of services to our students.
All students will receive at least one meeting during Key Stage 4.
These services include:
- One-to-one interviews
- Discussion of post-16 options
- Provide personalised action plan
- Assistance with college applications
- Help with CVs and application forms
Every year Saint John Houghton holds a Careers Roadshow attended by higher education institutions, training providers, apprenticeship providers, workplaces and the armed services.
Students also receive careers advice, information and guidance via PSHE lessons and visits/talks from outside speakers.
Careers information is communicated to students via the Careers notice board which is located at the student entrance in school. Posters and flyers about careers events are also passed on through registers and students are made aware of events via tutor time.
Every summer Year 10 students are given the opportunity to take part in work experience. Work placements are organised by Derbyshire County Council.
